
Peter J. Locascio, 87, of Streator passed away on Friday, February 20, 2026 surrounded by his family at OSF St. Joseph Hospital, Bloomington.
Born April 7, 1938 in Streator he was the son of Paul and Dora (Cusmano). He married Mary Ellen Harty on October 24, 1964 at Sacred Heart Church in Kinsman. She preceded him in death on September 4, 2012.
He is survived by sons, Dirk (Debbie) Locascio of Bartlett and Brett Locascio (Marco) of Evanston; grandchildren Jack Locascio, Andrew Locascio, Nora Locascio, Seth Locascio, Noah Gonzalez-Locascio and Luke Gonzalez-Locascio.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ellen; his parents and siblings; Catherine, Jim, Mary, Paul, Sam, Tina and Tom.
Born and raised in Streator, he graduated from Streator High School and Lewis University. He served in the United States Air Force.
He was an Illinois State Policeman for over 30 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant.
He was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Parish. He was also a member of the Msgr. George A. Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council 790.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 28th at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Fr. William Keebler will officiate.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Friday, February 27th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. The rosary will be recited at 3:45 P.M.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be Jeff Locascio, Doug Allen Snell, Doug Anthony Snell, Joe Snell, Max Snell, Jack Locascio, Andrew Locascio, Seth Locascio, Noah Gonzalez-Locascio and Luke Gonazalez-Locascio. Honorary pallbearers will be Francis “Jr” Jamison, Charles Nink and Bill Novotney. Full military rights will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217, Veterans of Foreign Post 1492 and Long Point American Legion Post 1217.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Peter’s honor may be directed to Building Our Future Capital Campaign through St. Michael the Archangel Church in Streator, IL which supports construction of the new Catholic Church or The Gary Sinise Foundation established to honor, support, and advocate for military veterans, first responders, their families, and those suffering from “invisible wounds”. It raises funds to provide specialized services, including building mortgage-free “smart homes,” hosting, and providing mental health support.
