
Edward T. Zavada, 81, of Streator passed away Sunday, May 31, 2026 at his home in Streator.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 8th at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.
Visitation will be from 2:00-5:00 P.M. Sunday, June 7th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. The rosary will be recited at 4:45 P.M.
Burial will be in St. Casimir’s Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Zachary and Jacob Zavada; a nephew, Clay Zavada; and friends, Brandon Berg, Jay Gebhardt and Luke Gebhardt.
Born November 18, 1944 in Streator he was the son of Michael and Ann (Cherveny) Zavada. He married Linda Mikolajczyk on August 30, 1974 at St. Casimir’s Church, Streator.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Zavada of Streator; sons, Thomas (Jolynn) Zavada of Taylor, Texas and Christopher Zavada of Streator; grandchildren, Zachary and Jacob Zavada of Texas and Kaylee Lewis of Streator; a brother, Mick (Clara) Zavada of Streator; a sister, Jeannie (Donald) Schoof of Varna; several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Clarence “Clay” Zavada; a sister-in-law, Linda Zavada and a niece, Kristina Zavada.
Born and raised in Streator he attended St. Stephen’s Grade School and graduated from Streator High School.
He worked for 51 years as a Mold Maker for Owens Illinois Glass from where he retired. Through the years he farmed for Russell Baumrucker and Richard Palaschak. He also owned and operated his own snow plowing business.
He was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. He was also a member of Lazy Acres Sportsman’s Club, National Rifle Association and Guns and Ammo. Ed enjoyed shooting and fishing and loved collecting guns.
Memorials may be directed to Building Our Future Capital Campaign through St. Michael the Archangel Church in Streator, IL which supports construction of the new Catholic Church.
