STREATOR – Marilla Park in Streator will be getting electrical upgrades this year. Streator’s City Council approved the proposal from Ficek Electric to install a new 200 AMP service and load center at the park located on the northeast edge of the city. The project will involve ComEd installing a new transformer along Marilla Park Road that will feed a brand-new meter socket and service disconnect along the road. Currently, all shelters at the park operate on a single circuit, leading to shortages when multiple shelters are in use. The upgrades will allow for plug-ins of audio equipment, ice machines, and other devices during events. Ficek Account Executive Ken Capponi says the company intends to start the project this summer, however, the date is determined on how soon they can obtain meter sockets through ComEd.
