
UTICA – A Streamwood man was cited after a fall at Starved Rock State park that sent him to a suburban hospital by helicopter. According to Illinois Conservation Police Sgt Phil Wire the 21-year old man was hiking with his girlfriend when he allegedly went off the river trail in Lone Tree Canyon and went climbing up a rock face before reportedly falling 30 feet. A witness said he tumbled another ten feet, then briefly lost consciousness. Utica, Oglesby and River Rescue assisted in getting the man to the life flight helicopter. He was issued a $95 citation for being off trail. During the incident, the conservation police also observed an 18-year-old male from East Moline who was also allegedly off trail and reportedly smoking cannabis. He was issued a civil citation for cannabis consumption in public.
