OTTAWA – The novel coronavirus has been a scare since it has appeared in the United States, but the local concern among health professionals is the flu. Twenty airports in the U.S. have implemented health screenings for citizens coming from China. LaSalle County Travel Owner Anna (Lee-YESKI) Lijewski says she’s had some clients who have thought of not leaving the country, however she’s more concerned about the flu. Since October through the 1st of February, the death toll is at 30,000 for the flu, says the Center for Disease Control. According to the LaSalle County Health Department, while the coronavirus is a rapidly evolving situation, the immediate risk is low. It’s recommended that those that have not gotten a flu shot to get one and use the same preventive measures you would with the flu. Cover your cough, wash your hands and stay home if you are sick.
